I’ve been horrid at arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. Being clumsy and not having steady hands is pretty much the cause of that, and trust me, my grades at school showed it. My classmates at the time should consider themselves lucky they didn’t get beheaded due to me putting the blocks of wood on the wrong side of the sander. Those sideway spinny things have a lot of launching power apparently…
So while I got away without hideously maiming/killing/hurting anyone (myself included in most cases), everything turned out sucky nontheless. But I wasn’t me if I wasn’t bloody stubborn so I keep trying with new projects. To my amazement the latest one went really well. So behold! (That means there’s pictures included. :3)
The chainmail bag o’ dice.
Chainmail is pretty awesome. It looks nice and it seems really difficult to make. But with getting a pouch for my D&D dice (or for random other stuff) the choice was between spending 50$ on a pouch including shipping, or making one myself for a mere 9.75 euros. I used a tutorial for the whole thing but the tutorial failed to explain how you’re supposed to place the rings… Leading to a few hours of trial and error.
I’m proud to say there’s no flaws at all in the finished product. ^.^ And it only took me about 5-6 hours, pretty good for a first try. I ended up halving the size of my pouch compared to the tutorial one as the rings I used were a lot bigger. I also added about four more rows of rings to the top and used less contractions than used in the tutorial since my sheet was half the size. :P
Here’s a step by step picture gallery thing. Yes, I’m showing off. :P After years of creepy looking pencil stands and picture frames with plastic melted on it I’m allowed to.
